My blogging experience

Well, this one will be the last time that I write in this blog and I must say that it was a very interesting experience because it allowed me to practise the written English in a very entertaining way, writing interesting topics. I liked some tasks more than others, because they made me think about some things that I hadn't consider before, like for example the task about "What do imagine myself doing in five more years?", and think about "why am I studying psychology?", etc. It is the first time that I have a blog and for me it was surprising to find me using this kind of tecnology, very innovative, in English classes. On the other hand, I believe that my level of written English has improve a lot since I tried to write in the best possible way, correcting my mistakes. Correcting my mistakes made me learn new words and learn how to write them correctly.

I think that to learn English using the blog is positive and it could be an advantage. It allowed me to learn in a didactic way, more technological and entertaining way. Also, in the blog, not only the teacher is able to see the task, but also the classmates, who interact and get to know each other. Also, I think that the length of the taks is appropriate, since it gives enough space to write about the subjects. One of the desadvantage of the blog it's that some topics of the task were boring and not interesting, in consequence, doing them was not always interesting and I was less motivated. For example, I didn't like the
task called "My favourite piece of technology".

Also, I believe that every three blog we shoud have a class of blog with the exclusively objetive of correcting the blogs that have been written.

My Ideal Job.

Actually, before this assignment I had not thought which my ideal job is. The only thing I know it`s that I would not like to be employed during my whole life at the same place. In the short term, when I graduate of the university, I would like to be employed by a consulting office as a labor psychologist, or by a company in the department of human resources. Ideally, I want to work at organization development and do research to find ways to solve problems in the area of human relations and organizational climate. For this kind of work I need to have social and communication skills, and knowledge about the functioning of the organization. Personally I believe that I would be good at this work because I have the required skills, I'm motivated, and in the university I am preparing myself to do this type of job.
There is a lot of demand for people to perform these tasks in all sorts of organizations. However, there are also a lot of people wanting this type of job. In order to get to one of these jobs, one needs to begin from selection of personnel and slowly go up to positions with bigger level of responsability.

Creativity

I saw Ken Robinson's presentation and I found it very interesting. It is common to to judge how educated and successful a person is by his/hers professional degrees. However, every day it is more evident that the degrees are not enough in a world that changes very fast and new skills are needed to be able to adapt to changes. To know many theories, to have a lot of knowledge is not enough if it is not used with creativity, which is developed from childhood.

In order to develop creativity it is necessary to teach children to adjust to the changes that they face day after day, when they deal with new technologies, new competitions, etc. This ability can be more important than having only a degree. Some people without degrees are becoming more productive and successful today than people who feel safe with their degrees, don`t take risk, nor innovate and are not creative.

The educational system in Chile generate professionals that are productive for the capitalist system, but with a system that it is not sustainable because nowadays everything changes very fast and the knowledge that is being taught today, is not always significant for tomorrow. The educational system should develop the talents that every student has, without being ruled by rigid parameters. Looking to develop creativity that is the tool that will open doors to students
in their future.

Hypnosis

My favorite subject is Hypnosis, today referred as neuro hypnosis, which is a technique that allows a person, a hypnologist, to induce another person into a particular state of conscience in which the subconscious can become conscious. For example, remembering events of childhood or situations from childhood that they had forgotten. I learnt hypnosis from a teacher who gave an elective course imparted at the university. I like it principally because I am interested very
much in work related to regressions. Through hypnosis you can allow a person to live again an experience that happened in a very early stage of his life. It is for example possible, to ask a person to remember the happiest moment. This semester I have learned through reading, researching and practice by hypnotizing different people. The more I practive, the more I learn.

My Future

In 5 more years…

In 5 more years I’ll be 27 years old and I’ll have my psychology degree and a post-graduate degree. I will be working in the area of labor psychology and in parallel I’ll continue taking courses on Humanist psychology because, in a future further away, I’d like to work in clinical psychology. Also, I see myself living with friends or with my couple, in a very colorful house with decoration done by me. I’ll feel my house, or my room, as an expression of myself.

I’ll have a fun life full of activities with friends and family. I will travel to different places in the world during my vacations, like India, Tailandia, Turquia, and do many hobbies such as dance, singing, courses on alternative therapies, etc. Also, I hope by a secure and happy person who is comfortable with everything she is doing.

Who is the best in your field?

In psychology I believe that Carl R. Rogers is the best. Rogers went from being a religious person to studying clinical psychology at Columbia University where he received his PhD in 1931. In the 20th century, he was an innovator in his field since he created a new way of seeing psychology and did big contributions in the area of the humanistic psychology that are still relevant today. I believe that he is one of the best because he created new theories that woke up the interest of many psychologists and amateurs in the topic generating a revolution in the humanistic area until today. From his life experience he learned many things that led him to develop studies on the process in which a person gets to know himself and to recognize the auto regulation power of the body. His texts are interesting and I'd definitively recommend them, especially to people interested on the topics of personal development and the world that exists inside of every person.

Psychology

I´m studying psychology because I like social sciences, reading everything relates to the human being, learning about how people grow-up and develop them self and I like to know how their mind and feeling work. Also, I´m studying to be a psychologist because I´m a very introspective person and my personality is very compatible with what I study.

I think that a psychologist can contribute to society in different ways. It´s depend on the work area. For example, in a clinical area a psychologist can contribute to decreasing the statistic level of stress and depression in Santiago. But in every area the psychologist should keep the human factor in mind, in every situation (in groups, communities or organizations, like corporation or educational institute).

I think a professional psychologist needs to be a person with social abilities like empathy, emotional intelligence, assertive in the relationships and communication skills. I think all these tools are necessary to be a good psychologist.

My favorite subject is the humanism related with the clinic and the organizational psychology. A few days ago I realized that I´m really interest and passionate about humanist theory, Now I and a group of friends are working on a investigation about the humanist theory for my clinic psychology course and we are all enjoying reading this with a smile on our faces =).

My Family

This photograph was taken by Arturo, my sister's husband when they were dating and my family met him for the first time. All my family is in this photograph: my two sisters, called Cecilia and Loreto, one brother called Rafael, my parents called Rafael and Loreto and finally me (I'm the one who is with a white sweater sitting on the floor).

The photograph was taken during a very special night, approximately three years ago, when my whole family met to eat pizza. We took many photos of everyone and at some point, Cecilia forced us to pose in this funny way. We look like (not so cool) rock band. I like this picture very much because it is the only photograph that shows the
family posing in a not traditional way. Also, it reminds me of a very special moment, because it has been a long time since the last time we were all together.

My favourite piece of technology

My favourite piece of technology is a cellphone because it is very
useful all the time. I got my first cellphone when I was about 16
years old because my mother gave me her old cellphone. How do I use
it? It's always on and it´s easy to use, just by pressing a button you
are connected with someone else. I use it to see what time it is and
to call and receive calls from my family and friends. I often use it
for emergency calls, for example, when I need to speak with a friend
about a homework or when I want to meet with my friends. I like the
cellphone because it's very practical, I can use it everywhere and it
allows me to be connected with the people when I want it and when I
need it.

I think that without a cellphone everything would be more difficult,
because with a cellphone you can reach someone when they are not at
home. This is an efficient way of communicating that allows easier
connection between persons and allows us to be more available.
