Creativity

I saw Ken Robinson's presentation and I found it very interesting. It is common to to judge how educated and successful a person is by his/hers professional degrees. However, every day it is more evident that the degrees are not enough in a world that changes very fast and new skills are needed to be able to adapt to changes. To know many theories, to have a lot of knowledge is not enough if it is not used with creativity, which is developed from childhood.

In order to develop creativity it is necessary to teach children to adjust to the changes that they face day after day, when they deal with new technologies, new competitions, etc. This ability can be more important than having only a degree. Some people without degrees are becoming more productive and successful today than people who feel safe with their degrees, don`t take risk, nor innovate and are not creative.

The educational system in Chile generate professionals that are productive for the capitalist system, but with a system that it is not sustainable because nowadays everything changes very fast and the knowledge that is being taught today, is not always significant for tomorrow. The educational system should develop the talents that every student has, without being ruled by rigid parameters. Looking to develop creativity that is the tool that will open doors to students
in their future.
